An electronically controlled five-speed Sportmatic™ transmission replaced the four-speed automatic for the 2005 model year, and is available with the Sport Package, which also includes side step bars, fog lights, alloy wheels, roof rack, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and keyless remote control.
With a length of 179.8” and a width of 74.2” for EX models, the Sorento packs a punch with its powerful DOHC, 24-valve, 3.5-liter V6 engine putting out 192-horsepower and 217 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,000 rpm.
The Sorento is offered in both two-wheel and four-wheel-drive configurations. Two-wheel-drive models send power to the rear wheels, while 4WD models have a part-time or Torque-on-Demand™ automatic full-time system depending on the trim level, and a transfer case that includes low range for more challenging off-road situations.
