Kia Soul Concept

Kia Motors America (KMA) and Kia Motors Corporation (KMC) today revealed the brand-new Soul concept car at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. Sporting a dynamic, daring look, the Kia Soul concept is a crossover utility vehicle (CUV) that builds on design components from the Kia Mesa concept from the 2005 NAIAS. Tom Kearns, KMA's chief designer, shared how this concept car was the result of a joint effort between their American and Korean design studios: "The Soul was really a collaborative effort between our design studio in California and our design studio in Korea. We sent one of our designers from California to Korea for a month and a half to work on the project." Furthermore, the name Soul is a play on the homonym of "Seoul," the home of KMC's headquarters in South Korea. With its stylish SUV body and athletic look, the Soul is perfect for all types of adventures. As Kearns expressed, "It's important to give customers flexibility, function and utility, yet still retain the car's distinct personality and attitude". Its body is made for great handling and is accented by a wrap-around windshield, stylish headlamps, muscular wheel flares, and a sloping roofline - all coming together to give the car an edgy, urban vibe.
