Kia Venga EV Concept

Kia has unveiled the first all-electric plug-in Kia Venga EV Concept car at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. This concept car is based on the newly-launched Venga B-segment MPV and comes with an electric motor delivering 80 kW and maximum torque of 280 Nm. The Kia Venga EV is capable of going from 0 to 62mph in 11.8 seconds and reaching a top speed of 87 mph. The Kia Venga EV sports a twin-pack 24 kWh battery involving LiPoly (Lithium Ion Polymer) technology that enables 112 miles of range in a single charge. Under the quick recharging cycle (50 kW), the battery can be topped up to 80 percent in twenty minutes, while under the normal cycle (3.3 kW) it takes eight hours to reach full power. The electric powertrain of the Kia Venga EV Concept car is located in the engine bay, with the battery pack located underneath the boot floor. This zero-emissions vehicle is solely powered by electric energy stored in its battery, helping increase environmental protection. Kia Venga EV Concept is Kia Motors' further step towards earth-friendly R&D, embodying the company’s aim to develop eco-friendly vehicles.
