Koenigsegg CCR

The Koenigsegg CCR is a supercar that was made by the Swedish manufacturer, Koenigsegg. It was designed and manufactured in Ängelholm, Sweden, and had its debut at the 2004 Geneva Auto Show. The CCR holds the prestigious record of having the fastest production car in the world.

Overview

The Koenigsegg CCR is based on the Koenigsegg CC8S, and features a more powerful engine with improved performance. This is made possible with the use of a Lysholm twin-screw supercharger and a new titanium exhaust system. This takes the power output up to 806 hp (601 kW) at 6,900 rpm, and peak torque of 920 N·m (678 ft·lbf) at 5,700 rpm. Current versions of the Koenigsegg CCR use twin Rotrex centrifugal type superchargers instead, giving the same power output while lowering the peak torque point from 5,700 to 5,400 rpm. The car has a sleek and modern design, with a new side air-intake design, tweaked headlight arrangement, revised rear-end, larger brakes, new front splitters for improved aerodynamics. It features a mid-engine, two-seat coupe configuration, and its iconic scissor doors open by rotating up and forward. The CCR has a unique touch, with a ghost symbol adorning the car to honor the Swedish Fighter Jet Squadron No. 1, (Johan röd) who occupied the original Koenigsegg facility. According to Koenigsegg, it has a base price of around US$590,000.

Testing history

The CCR is claimed to be the fastest production car in the world, with a theoretical top speed of over 385 km/h (240 mph).
