Lamborghini Miura SV

The Lamborghini Miura, built in Italy by Lamborghini between 1966 and 1973, was a trendsetter sports car. It was renowned for its mid-engined layout, which had been used successfully in competition like the Ford GT40 and Ferrari 250 LM at Le Mans, as well as the Vallelunga road car by De Tomaso. Named after the Spanish ranch Miura, the car made its debut at the 1965 Turin Motor Show, where the chassis was shown and orders were made without an actual body. Marcello Gandini from Bertone later designed the body, which was launched at the 1966 Geneva Motor Show. Its clam-shell opening hoods, flamboyant bodywork and unusual engine gained it much attention. Early models, known as P400s, were powered by a 3.9 L Lamborghini V12 engine mounted transversely and producing 350 hp (260 kW). 275 P400s were produced between 1966 and 1969. The gearbox in the sump of the engine shared the engine oil for lubrication, necessitating frequent and consistent oil changes.
