Lamborghini Murcielago RGT
Lamborghini will debut a race version of the Murciélago called the Murciélago R-GT during the upcoming Motor Show in Frankfurt, which is being developed alongside race experts from Reiter Engineering and Audi Sport. The new race car is intended to meet the increasing demand for a cost-effective race car that can compete professionally in international motorsport events.
The new Murcielago R-GT marks Lamborghini's return to international motorsport since the company's involvement in Formula 1 in the 80's and 90's. Such is why Lamborghini established the Customer Sports Programme, which handles not only the sales of the vehicles but also provides trackside assistance.
Clients will have the option to compete in the European FIA GT Championship, as well as the American LeMans Series in the United States with the Murcielago R-GT. Cars for customers will be available from 2004 onwards. To demonstrate the model's competitiveness, Reiter Engineering will be entering the Murcileago R-GT into the FIA GT races at Estoril on October 5 and at Monza on October 19, 2003.
