Lancia Aurelia B 24

The Lancia Aurelia was designed by Vittorio Jano and launched in 1950, becoming an iconic Gran Turismo car before production finished in 1958. The car's engine was a first-of-its-kind 60° V6, developed by Lancia engineer de Virgilio and ranging from 1.8 L to 2.5 L. It featured an all-alloy pushrod design with a single camshaft, hemispherical combustion chambers, and inline valves. It was augmented by a single Weber 40 carburettor. The rear of the car had a combination transaxle with the gearbox, clutch, differential, and inboard-mounted drum brakes, while the front had a sliding pillar suspension and the Fourth series switched out the rear semi-trailing arms for a de Dion tube. First series

The initial Aurelias were B10 berlinas (sedans) with a 1754 cc V6 engine that generated 56 hp. The B21 was the next release in 1951 with a larger, more powerful 1991 cc engine producing 70 hp. The same year also saw the two-door B20 GT coupé, with a shorter wheelbase and a body styled by Ghia and Pininfarina. This model came with the same 1991 cc engine but with 75 hp. All 500 first series Aurelias were produced when production ended in 1952

Second series

The next series of Aurelia coupes had an enlarged 1991 cc V6 with 80 hp, thanks to a higher compression ratio and repositioned valves. It also had improved brakes and some minor styling changes, such as chrome bumpers. The dashboard had two large instrument gauges as a major new feature. The suspension was the same as in the first series. The B22 sedan was released in 1952 with dual Webers and a hotter camshaft for a maximum power of 90 hp.
