Lancia Autobianchi A112

The Lancia Autobianchi A112 is a supermini that was produced by the Italian automaker Autobianchi between 1969 and 1985. Designed using the mechanicals of the Fiat 127 and with help from Lancia, the A112 was launched to replace the Bianchina. As of 1985, its last year of production, over 1.2 million units had been produced in Autobianchi's Milan factory. The A112 was only available in 3-door body style, and was powered by two OHV engines with capacities of 903 cc and 965 cc. The A112 Junior has an output of 42 PS (31 kW) while the A112 Elite has a higher-grade trim and 5-speed gearbox, producing 48 PS (35 kW). Perhaps the most noteworthy version was the A112 Abarth which was introduced in 1971. Developed by the motorsports division of the Fiat Group, the car had its engine moved to an overhead cam and sports the addition of a twin carburetor. In 1975, displacement and power were increased from 965 cc and 58 PS (43 kW) to 1049 cc and 70 PS (51.5 kW) respectively at 6600 rpm. The Autobiachi A112 Abarth had a weight of only 700 kg (1540 lb) and also featured a 5-speed manual transmission. With these improvements, the A112 Abarth was enthusiastically welcomed by performance car fans. Besides being entered in European rallies, it also spawned its own one-make Trophy.
