Lancia Beta Montecarlo 1974 posters

Lancia Beta Montecarlo

The Lancia Beta was a car produced by Lancia shortly after the company had been taken over by Fiat in 1969. As a sign of a new beginning, the company chose the name Beta for its new vehicle, which was first launched in 1972 - it had already been used by the company in 1908 and again in 1953. Beta was chosen instead of Alpha - the first letter of the Greek alphabet which was previously used by Lancia - as there may be confusion with a rival car brand called Alfa Romeo. The Beta was available in a few different body styles: the four-door sedan/saloon had a hatchback-like appearance, the two door coupé, the Zagato-built two door soft-top Spider/convertible, the three door High Performance Estate (HPE) and the last version, the two-door sports car designed and built by Pininfarina called the Monte Carlo. Late in its life, the Saloon underwent a major redesign by Pininfarina and became known as the Beta Trevi.
