Lancia Delta HF 4WD

The Lancia Delta was a successful car sold by Lancia from 1979 to 1994 and was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. In Sweden, it was sold by Saab Automobile as the Saab 600, who also provided assistance with the logistics so that the Delta was better suited for colder climates, reducing the chances of it rusting more than other Lancias. It was one of the most contemporarily styled cars of its class in Europe, competing against Volkswagen Golfs, Vauxhall Astras/Opel Kadekts and Fords Escorts. It was voted Car of the Year in 1980. HF4WD In 1985, FISA (Fédération Internationale du Sport Automobile) made the decision to scrap plans for a proposed Group S along with Group B, as the cars had become too fast and dangerous. Luckily for Lancia, they had the HF 4X4 production car in the pipeline, having developed the S4 rally car shortly before. The 'HF Turbo i.e.' was the predecessor of the HF 4WD, recognised for its impressive handling for a front-wheel drive car, and the HF 4WD lived up to these high expectations. It was the flagship of the Delta range, excluding the S4 which was designed specifically for rallying.
