Lancia Lybra Intensa

The Lancia Lybra is a mid-size car from Italian carmaker, Fiat Auto's luxury brand, Lancia. It is based on the Alfa Romeo 156 chassis (derived from the Fiat Tipo platform), and it took over the Dedra's place in Lancia's lineup. It has the distinction of utilizing the Lybra name, instead of the Greek letter pattern evident in earlier Lancia models. Produced at the Rivalta plant in Turin, it is available as both a sedan and station wagon. Styling This model was designed by the Centro Stile Lancia, rather than being commissioned from external design studios, like its predecessors. Its styling features round headlights and other styling features inspired by Lancias from the 1950s such as the Aurelia and Appia. However, this car still had references to the 90s Lancia models, including the grille shape and the body of the station wagon were taken from the Lancia Kappa SW. The distinct taillights of the Lybra were even taken from and adapted for the Fiat Marea during its 2001 facelift. Engines The Lybra comes equipped with a front-wheel drive system and transversely mounted engines. It is available as a 5-speed manual, while the 2.0 L can also be coupled with a 4-speed Comfortronic automatic transmission. The car is powered by a variety of engines ranging from a 1.6 L 16 valve DOHC I4 to a 2.4 L 8 valve SOHC JTD I5 common rail turbodiesel. The 1.9 L turbodiesel and 2.4 L engines were uprated for 2002 to 115 PS and 150 PS respectively.
