Lancia Ypsilon 2003 posters

Lancia Ypsilon 1.3 Multijet

The Lancia Ypsilon (Type 843) was introduced in 2003 as an entry-level car to the Lancia range. Designed to meet the needs of a young clientele, the Ypsilon became a hit, particularly popular among female customers. It soon became the bestselling model in the brand's lineup, reaching a production of around 60,000 units per year. It was initially manufactured in the Fiat plant of Melfi but, in 2005, production was moved to Lancia's Termini Imerese Palermo factory. With a length of almost 3.78 meters, the frame was based upon the Fiat Punto B platform and was also adopted for the Fiat Idea and Lancia Musa. The car is a three-door model, which features a prominent chrome grille enclosing two oblong luminous elements and a coating applied to the fascia of the bumpers. Above the air intakes are fog lights (on the higher trim levels) and the sills have a chrome trim. In the rear, the car sports vertically-oriented headlamps integrated into the wheel arches, a smaller size tailgate, and a chrome-coated fascia above the license plate. The powertrain consists of a front-mounted transverse engine and front-wheel drive. The independent MacPherson strut suspensions are coupled with a stabilizer bar and steel arms, while the semi-independent torsion beam suspension is used in the back. Ventilated front disc brakes and rear drum brakes come as standard, while the Sport MomoDesign version has four-disc brakes and stiffer suspension. All versions have anti-wheel drive lock (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and an electric power steering, however an optional electronic stability control and traction is also available.
