Land Rover Freelander 2
Land Rover's all-new Freelander 2 made its world debut today at the British International Motor Show at ExCeL in London's Docklands. The sophisticated 4x4 not only offers superior on-road performance, but also the renowned off-road ability that we associate with Land Rover. It has a dynamic exterior, an intelligent and roomy interior and a suite of impressive, innovative technologies.
The Freelander 2 comes equipped with two cutting-edge engines: the 2.2-litre TD4 diesel (160 PS / 118 kW) and the 3.2-litre i6 petrol (233 PS / 171 kW). They offer outstanding fuel economy and increased power from its predecessor. Also featured are a full-time intelligent 4x4 system and Land Rover's unique Terrain Response™ for easier off-roading.
At the same show, the 2007 model year Range Rover TDV8 was unveiled. It has a powerful, refined diesel engine that gives faster acceleration (0-60 mph sprint/0-100 km/h) but the same fuel economy as the outgoing diesel (25.1 mpg combined average). Added features include Terrain Response, electronic park brake and electronic rear 'e' differential as well as a refined cabin with additional stowage, updated finishes and more efficient air conditioning.
Land Rover's managing director, Phil Popham remarked: "We are delighted to be supporting the British International Motor Show here in London with two product debuts - it is our home show and is very important to our business... The Freelander 2 sets new standards in the sector, combining the advantages of a premium car with the attributes of a robust 4x4. We believe that no other compact 4x4 gets closer to blending these best-of-both-worlds abilities."
The 2007 Range Rover goes on sale from September with the Freelander 2 available from December, starting at around £22,000 with prices rising to over £30,000.
