Land Rover LR3
The Land Rover LR3 (formerly known as the Discovery in North America) is a mid-range 4x4 (SUV in American-English) offered by Land Rover, now owned by Ford Motor Company. It was introduced in 2 April 2004 to replace the Series II Discovery, which had also been in production since the late 1980s and was the most popular model of its kind from the brand. The LR3 features an entirely new design, with no shared components from the previous model, and its styling follows traditional Land Rover principles of having function dictate its look. This includes features such as the stepped roofline and steeply-raked windscreen as well as the use of plenty of horizontal and vertical lines. Although not as utilitarian as the Defender, the Land Rover LR3 is very competent off road and comes at a much more affordable price than its top-end counterpart, the Range Rover.
