Land Rover Range Rover

The Land Rover Range Rover is undoubtedly the top luxury 4x4 model of Land Rover. It was built on a box section ladder type chassis, utilizing coil springs instead of leaf springs, permanent four wheel drive, rotating disc brakes, and powered by Rover V8 engines (initially of 3528 cc, and currently of 4.4 litres Jaguar V8). This vehicle was very popular in the UK and across the world. Prior to 1987, the Range Rover was only available in the United States through the grey market. In response to the strong demand, the company began officially marketing the Range Rover in the USA in the same year. Until 1993, the U.S. Range Rover was the one and only model of the brand in the US under its name. In 1993, with the introduction of the Defender 110 and the Discovery model, the company changed its name to Land Rover USA. Since its inception, the Range Rover model maintains its luxurious features while remaining touted as a robust off-road vehicle. Among enthusiasts, the first model is known as the Classic, the second generation is called the P38A, and the latest iteration is known as the L322 or simply the "new Range Rover". In 2002, a third generation Range Rover was released, now under Ford ownership (it had been under BMW up to 2001). This time, it featured an improved ground clearance, cross-linked air springs, and a monocoque body featuring design elements from the original model. It also came with a choice between a BMW M62 V8 gasoline and a 6-cylinder diesel engine, while only the V8 gasoline engine was available in North America.
