The Land Rover Range Stormer Concept is a high-performance, sport tourer SUV concept car that offers a glimpse of Land Rover's upcoming design direction and their increasingly daring approach to new technologies. As the first-ever Land Rover concept to preview a prospective production model, it is set to enter a new market segment and join the Range Rover, Discovery, Freelander, and Defender as an additional model line in the Land Rover portfolio.
Managing Director of Land Rover, Matthew Taylor, states, “The supercharged V8 Land Rover Range Stormer gives a taste of our forthcoming new entrant in the booming high performance SUV segment. The production vehicle that follows will share many of its styling and technical innovations."
According to Taylor, the Range Stormer is a modern, striking, high-technology vehicle, made for both on-road performance and off-road capability. With this in mind, the Range Stormer showcases a new platform that will serve as the basis for future full-size Land Rover models. Along with this, this concept car has debuted Terrain Response- an intelligent and user-friendly technology designed to optimize the vehicle's suspension, powertrain, throttle response, and traction control to fit the terrain that the driver selects (from the six available settings).
"You'll be seeing an increasing amount of innovative technology in our future vehicles," states Matthew Taylor. "But technology that makes the driver's task simpler not more complicated, such as Terrain Response. You select the terrain. The car then helps you conquer it."
