Land Rover Supercharged Range Rover

The Range Rover is the top luxury 4x4 ("four wheel drive" in British English) model of Land Rover. It was built on a box section ladder type chassis, with coil springs instead of leaf springs; permanent four wheel drive, disc brakes all round and powered by the lightweight Rover V8 engine of 3528 cc (3947 cc in later variants - and now by a Jaguar V8 of 4.4 litres). This vehicle has been popular in the UK and elsewhere in the world. Prior to 1987, in The United States, Land Rover vehicles were only available through the grey market. In response to the rising demand, the Land Rover company officially began selling the Range Rover in the USA in 1987. The company's name changed to Land Rover USA with the arrival of the Defender 110 and the impending Discovery in 1993. The Range Rover has always been known for an combination of luxury and off-road capability. Its original model is referred to as the Classic, the second generation is the P38A and the latest model is the L322 or "new Range Rover". In 2002, the third generation model saw the Range Rover move up-market. This was at a time when the brand was owned by Ford, who had acquired it from BMW the year before. BMW's M62 V8 gasoline and 6-cylinder diesel engines were initially offered, although the V8 is the only option in North America. This version has an improved ground clearance, cross-linked air springs, and a monocoque body based on the original model.
