Lexus has introduced a totally new, second-generation Lexus GX 460 luxury utility vehicle for 2010 that is more powerful, more efficient, quieter and more luxurious than the Lexus GX 470 model it replaces. The 2010 GX 460 manages to fulfill these improvements while at the same time boasting 10 standard airbags and the available Pre-Collision System to promote safety.
The Lexus GX 460 is positioned in between the brand's LX 570 premium luxury utility vehicle and its unibody-based Lexus RX models. It combines mid-sized packaging with family-friendly comfort and premium craftsmanship, and has a seven-passenger setup as standard. Made with durable body-on-frame construction, the GX 460 features full-time four-wheel drive as well as the advanced Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) to offer a smooth ride, regardless of whether you're travelling on or off-road.
The 2010 Lexus GX 460 has an entirely new 4.6-liter V8 that's both stronger and more efficient than the 4.7-liter V8 it has been replaced with. It achieves 301 horsepower and 329 lb.-ft. of peak torque, and is combined with a new six-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift. Thanks to this, the combined city/highway fuel economy of the GX 460 is 13 percent better, with an EPA-estimated 17 mpg (as opposed to 15 mpg in the 2009 GX 470). It has one of the best fuel economies for a V8 luxury utility vehicle, even rivaling some of the six-cylinder models. The EPA-estimated fuel economy of the GX 460 is 15 mpg in the city and 20 mpg highway.
