Lexus HS 250h

The 2010 Lexus HS 250h was unveiled at the 2009 North American International Auto Show as the world's first dedicated luxury hybrid vehicle. Driver's seeking high-quality efficiency can look to the Lexus HS 250h as the most fuel-efficient vehicle in its lineup and the first to make use of carbon-neutral Ecological Plastic materials in its futuristic cockpit and interior design. Positioned between the IS luxury sport sedan and the ES luxury sedan, the Lexus HS250h caters to the more than 60 percent of entry-luxury car buyers who would have chosen the hybrid option if it were available. Its Hybrid Drive System combines a 2.4-liter Atkinson-cycle powerplant with Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) system to generate 187 total system horsepower and an expected fuel efficiency greater than 30 percent better than the most fuel-efficient car of the lineup. The engine is also kitted with cooling piston oil jets, an optimized balance shaft rate for improved Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) characteristics, along with a hot-air venting system mounted behind the radiator, all running on regular 87-octane gasoline and earning a SULEV emissions rating.
