Lexus IS250 [EU]
The Lexus IS is a compact executive car produced by the Lexus marque of Toyota Motor Corporation. It was first introduced in 1998 as the Toyota Altezza, primarily as an entry-level luxury model for the Lexus lineup in Japan, and later for the European and North American markets. This Lexus vehicle is designed to compete against similar models from BMW and Mercedes-Benz such as the 3 Series and C-Class.
The first generation of Lexus IS (XE10) comprised of a 6-cylinder range that included a hatchback (Gita, known as IS Sportcross in Europe and the US), and both IS 200 and IS 300 models in Europe and North America. While the IS models experienced moderate success in North America, the vehicle failed to pick up much sales volume against its German rivals in other markets.
The second-generation IS was released in 2006 and featured a total redesign. The Toyota Altezza name was dropped in Japan in favor of the Lexus branding, and the IS SportCross was dropped from the lineup worldwide.
