Lexus LF-A Roadster Concept

The LF-A Roadster is the latest expression of Lexus' groundbreaking LF-A sports car concept. To create the vehicle, the engineers and designers removed the car's top, ensuring a high-performance result. Utilising the carbon-fiber and aluminum structure normally used for the LF-A coupe, the LF-A Roadster boasts the same solid yet lightweight body and structure. At the heart of the vehicle sits a high-revving V10 engine, larger than five liters in displacement, which offers over 500 horsepower and an impressive test-track speed of over 200 mph. The powerful engine is mounted in the car's "front-mid" configuration and connected via a torque tube and propeller shaft to a transaxle that can be controlled with paddle shifters. The presence of the torque tube ensures not only a rigid and vibration-free drivetrain and chassis, but also enhances the car's overall aesthetic. Styled according to Lexus' L-Finesse design philosophy, the LF-A Roadster features a compact, low-profile, aerodynamic shape, while also standing at just 48 inches tall. A speed-adaptive rear wing also adds to the visual appeal of the vehicle, as well as two wrap-around, arrowhead-shaped taillights and two large grills that vent the heated air from the two rear-mounted radiators. This unique radiator positioning allowed the designers to keep the car's front profile low and tight, as well as optimise the weight distribution of the chassis.
