At the 2006 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), Lexus unveiled the redesigned 2007 LS 460 and their first-ever long-wheelbase model, the LS 460L. After seventeen years, the iconic luxury brand has combined performance, sophistication, styling, and luxury refinements in one remarkable sedan. "The Lexus LS 460 was designed to expand the definition of the full-size luxury sedan," said Jim Press, Toyota Motor Sales president and COO. "The new LS is the product of an advanced production process developed specifically for this vehicle with remarkable new levels of accuracy, refinement, precision and craftsmanship. Considering our record for quality over the last 17 years, that's quite a statement." The LS 460 will feature an all-new highly advanced 4.6-liter V8 engine providing estimated 380 horsepower and 370 lb-ft of torque, paired to a world’s first eight-speed automatic transmission for a nimble zero-to-sixty time of less than 5.5 seconds, albeit with an estimated combined city/highway MPG in the mid-20s. The car is also targeting an Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle II (ULEV II) rating. In addition, Lexus has enhanced the sedan's platform with a sophisticated multilink suspension system, along with an electronic power steering system and next-generation Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system. This combination promises a balance between ride comfort and responsive handling.
