Lotus Europa SE
The Lotus Europa SE is available for a competitive price of £32,995 MSRP / 41,500 (Euro prices are without taxes, delivery & other related costs), while the entry level variant is priced at £27,950 MSRP / 37,500. These models were developed exclusively for European customers, and will be released in Europe in June 2008. CEO of Group Lotus plc Mike Kimberley explains that the Europa has been designed for those who find the Elise and Exige too uncompromising for everyday use.
The Europa SE is powered by a mid-mounted 2 litre turbo charged engine, tuned to an impressive 225PS and 300 Nm torque. With performance like this, the SE accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 5.5s (0-100 km/h in 5.7s estimated), 100 mph (160 km/h) is achieved in 13.0s (estimated), and a top speed of 143 mph (estimated) can be reached. The ride is smooth and comfortable, yet still handles superbly due to its race car derived double wishbone suspension and the downforce generated from its sleek body work.
The SE edition comes with a range of unique features such as high performance AP Racing four pot brakes with larger (308 mm) diameter discs, 17" front and 18" rear rims, and high performance tyres providing increased levels of grip. The interior has also been revamped by Lotus Design to exude a stylish, luxury feel with leather sports seats and a high quality stereo system. Furthermore, airbags and an engine start button come as standard in all 2008 Lotus road cars, including the Europa and the Europa SE.
