Lotus Exige 2005 posters

Lotus Exige

Reintroduced to the market after a two year absence, the Lotus Exige is a car that completely revolutionized the hardcore sports coupe market despite being on sale for under two years. The original Lotus Exige was first unveiled in the year 2000 and was closely derived from the highly successful Lotus Sport Elise racecar which had been campaigned throughout Europe in the year 2000 and 2001. The car was hand-built for select markets in small numbers. Fast forward to the year 2004 and the Lotus Exige introduced at the Geneva Motorshow as a world debut represented a huge leap forward with its power and performance. Equipped with an advanced 1.8 litre Variable Valve Timing with Lift-Intelligent (VVTL-i) engine producing a maximum power output of 141 kW and 181 Nm of torque, the Lotus Exige accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds and 160 km/h in 13.2 seconds. It can reach a top speed of 237 km/h. Key to the Exige's phenomenal performance and handling is its total aerodynamic package (which gives a total of 41.2 kg of downforce at 160 km/h) and its light weight – weighing in at 875 kg when unladen and without any options. This gives it a power to weight ratio of 161 kW/t and 4.56 kg/PS. The engine in the mid-engine sports coupe is located behind the cockpit and in front of the driven rear wheels. It is a state-of-the-art 2ZZ-GE 1.8 litre 4 cylinder 16-valve Variable Valve Timing and Lift-Intelligent (VVTL-i) engine sourced from Toyota and linked to a C64 six-speed gearbox – perfectly suited to meet the Lotus brand philosophies.
