This powerful production vehicle has been officially approved for sale in all markets and has achieved unbelievable power levels, with 90.5 kW / litre (121.4 hp / litre, 123 PS / litre). Despite its immense strength and lightweight frame of just 935 kg (2057 lbs), the Exige S gives an impressive power to weight ratio of 173.8 kW/tonne (233.2 hp/tonne, 236.4 PS/tonne). Consequently, it can reach 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds (0 - 60 mph in 4.1 seconds) and 160 km/h (100 mph) in 9.98 seconds (estimate), reaching a top speed of 238 km/h (148 mph). Surprisingly, this remarkable performance is combined with an impressive fuel economy rating, at 9.1 litres / 100 km (31.0 mpg) combined, and 7.2 litres / 100 km (39.2 mpg) extra urban.
Clive Dopson, Managing Director of Lotus Cars, claims that the Lotus Exige S "represents the ultimate 'extreme' production Lotus, with performance that trumps other supercars costing twice or even three times as much".
