Lotus Exige S Type 72

Truly embodying the spirit and history of a championship-winning car, the Lotus Exige S Type 72 celebrates the legacy of the Lotus Type 72 Formula One car, which held a total of 20 Grand Prix victories from 1970 to 1975. Former Lotus champions Jochen Rindt, Emerson Fittipaldi, Ronnie Peterson and Jacky Ickx drove the Type 72 and led it to three Constructors’ Championships (1970, 1972 and 1973), as well as two Drivers' World titles. Rindt won the first in 1970 and Fittipaldi took the second in 1972. Recreating the remarkable black and gold livery of the Type 72, the Lotus Exige S Type 72 is crafted by the same signwriter who painted racing cars for Team Lotus. Benefitting from the Lotus philosophy of refinement through light weight, the Exige S Type 72 weighs just 935kg and offers a 4.5-second sprint to 60mph and top speed of 145 mph. It’s also highly fuel efficient, with 6.5 litres/100 km (43.5 mpg) on the Extra Urban Cycle and CO2 emissions of 199 g/km. The intercooled engine of the Lotus Exige S Type 72 is reinforced with VVTL-i technology and has a rev limiter at 8500 rpm. Additionally, the Sport Pack comes as standard with the car, furnishing a bespoke interior with black micro fibre ProBax sports seats with gold stitching, T45 steel main roll hoop, Lotus Traction Control, twin oil coolers and an adjustable front anti-roll bar. For an extra touch of authenticity, each car also has a special build plate commemorating one of the F1 Type 72 victories.
