Lotus Exige Sprint 2008 posters

Lotus Exige Sprint

Lotus Cars has reintroduced a classic colour scheme from the early 1970s with the limited edition Lotus Exige Sprint. Just 40 of these right hand drive models will be available in the UK and Ireland, featuring Aspen White on the lower portion of the body and either Solar Yellow or Persian Blue on the upper portion as well as a gold stripe with ‘Exige Sprint’ on the doors. These vehicles have been specially designed to commemorate the start of Lotus production at Hethel in 1967, and each will come with an individually numbered chassis year build plate spanning 1967 to 2007 (with the exception of 1982, the year of Colin Chapman’s death), and a heritage pack containing a certificate signed by Lotus' Chief Executive Mike Kimberley and "The Lotus Book" written by William Taylor. The Lotus Exige Sprint is more than just a colour scheme, offering features such as ultra-lightweight forged alloy wheels, air conditioning, Sport Pack, Touring Pack as well as the newly available Performance Pack which allows for phenomenal acceleration of zero to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds (estimated) and 100 mph in 6.0 seconds (estimated). It also includes unique interior trim with distinctive embroidery and exterior decals. Equipping a standard Lotus Exige to the same specifications would cost £44,050, making the Lotus Exige Sprint’s MSRP of £42,550 a great deal. Mike Kimberley, Chief Executive for Group Lotus plc, commented, “Back in 1970, I was working on the Elan Sprint with a team of talented engineers led by Tony Rudd. It was a car that at the time was virtually unbeatable on a quick country road dash. The Elan Sprint with its sophisticated and elegant colour scheme was my particular favourite of the Elan range and it is fantastic to see the colour schemes being reintroduced for this limited edition of just 40 UK cars. Of course, being more than just a colour scheme, we are offering the driver an unparalleled Lotus Exige driving experience in a car that will, in a few years time, cement itself into the Lotus legend”. Theelan Sprint was introduced in early 1971 and produced until August 1973, being the last version of the quintessential 1960s sportscar. This vehicle was equipped with the 126 bhp Lotus "Big Valve" Twin Cam 1558cc engine and weighed only 1570lbs (714 kg), letting it reach 60 mph in just 5.9 seconds - an impressive performance at the time.
