ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ, October 14, 2004 - Maserati, known for its speed and style, sold out all 60 of its Neiman Marcus Limited-Edition 2005 Quattroporte luxury sedans within three minutes of going on sale via telephone on October 14, 2004 at noon EDT. Within just 36 minutes, all orders were finalized, which is not surprising given there was an 18 month waiting list through Maserati dealers.
The flagship sedan of the Ferrari Maserati Group embodies Italian admirations - eloquently combining beauty, good living, engineering, performance and exclusivity. Featuring a 4.2-liter 400-HP engine, the Quattroporte can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 5.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 170 mph, being the only luxury sedan in its class with the engine behind the front axle.
Maserati North America's President and CEO, Maurizio Parlato, expressed his pleasure with the response to the Neiman Marcus Quattroporte. He said the bond between Neiman Marcus customers and Maserati drivers is further emphasized by the overwhelming demand. The car was priced at $125,000 each and was regarded as one of the more exotic fantasy gifts in the company's 97-year history.
To make it even more exclusive, it was designed by Maserati's Director of Concept Design, Frank Stephenson, and Sergio Pininfarina, showing off a Bordeaux Pontevecchio metallic paint finish, unique chromed mesh-front grill and side vents, 19" polished wheels, and an ivory Poltrona Frau leather interior with bordeaux piping and mahogany wood accents. Each car also bears Pininfarina's signature on an individually numbered nameplate.
