The Maserati Trofeo Light, a collaborative effort between the Modena racing department and Italtecnica, is set to make its race debut in this weekend's Daytona 24 Hours, the opening round of the American Grand-Am championship. The race will begin on Saturday, 31st January at 13h00 local time (19h00 C.E.T.).
The Risi Competizione team will have a three-person crew consisting of Germany's Ralf Kelleners, the American Anthony Lazzaro and Italy's Matteo Bobbi. Meanwhile, Scuderia Maserati of Washington have assembled a four-person driver line-up which includes Italy's Fabrizio De Simone and the Americans Stephen Earle, Emil Assentato and Nick Longhi.
The car is a development of the one used in Maserati's one make series, which is itself based on the road-going Coupe Cambiocorsa.
