Maybach 57 2002 posters

Maybach 57

The Maybach 57 and 62 are iconic models of the Maybach brand, which was revived by DaimlerChrysler in 2002. Competing with top-of-the-line Bentley and Rolls-Royce automobiles, they are based upon the Mercedes-Benz Maybach concept car presented at the 1997 Tokyo Motorshow, which was itself inspired by the Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan. Powered by a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V12 engine generating 550 hp, the model numbers denote the vehicle's respective length in decimetres. The 57 is more suitable for owner-drivers, while its longer counterpart, the 62, is designed with a chauffeur in mind. Prices range from US$305,000 to $357,000 (£240,000 to £250,000). Unfortunately, Maybach's scholarly entry into the luxury market was marked with waning success. Just 600 units were sold in 2004 and 152 in the United States in 2005, followed by a worldwide production of 300 units.

Maybach 57 S

The Maybach 57 S was first unveiled at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show. It is powered by a 6.0-liter V12 engine manufactured by Mercedes-AMG and offers 604 hp (450 kW) and 738 ft·lbf (1000 N·m). This luxury vehicle is capable of a sub-5 second acceleration to 60 mph (97 km/h) while riding 0.5in (13 mm) lower on 20 (508 mm) inch wheels. The North American unveiling was at the Los Angeles Auto Show in January of 2006.
