Maybach Exelero 2005 posters

Maybach Exelero

The Maybach Exelero is a one-of-a-kind, high-performance show car that was presented for the first time at the Tempodrom in Berlin. Built for Fulda Reifenwerke, the two-seater is powered by a V-12 biturbo engine with 700 horsepower, and is meant to be used as a benchmark for a new generation of wide tires. This car pays homage to one of Maybach’s iconic streamlined sports cars produced in the 1930s which was, at the time, equipped with a powerful Maybach SW38 engine for tire tests. Maybach's Exelero is an embodiment of the German brand's individualisation strategy, crafted as a unique model created upon request. When tested at the Nardo high-speed track in Italy, this model's top speed reached a whopping 351.45 km/h (FIA-standard unit of measurement). The construction of this luxury model was done by the prototype specialists at Stola in Turin, Italy, and it is not planned for series production. The Design - What ever happens no retro design! At the turn of the new millennium, the students of Pforzheim Polytechnic's Department of Transport Design had a show truck designed for Fulda Reifen, and it quickly gained attention due to its futuristic style. To mark the 100th anniversary of Fulda, this vehicle has been taken on the road, attended by both Fulda and its cooperation partners Maybach and DaimlerChrysler. Four 6th semester students were chosen to design the Exelero under the guidance of Professor James Kelly and Professor Lutz Fügener from the Polytechnic.
