Mazda Tribute Hybrid-Electric Vehicle

MNAO's commitment to improving air quality will be demonstrated at the 2007 North American International Auto Show with the unveiling of the new 2008 Mazda Tribute Hybrid-Electric Vehicle (HEV). This vehicle follows Mazda's hydrogen-powered RX-8 and MAZDA 5, which are being extensively tested in Japan, in becoming part of the organisation's environmental efforts. The Tribute HEV is planned to be released as a 2008 model year and Mazda will give more detailed information about the launch time, pricing, and distribution closer to the date. Robert Davis, senior vice president of Quality, Research and Development at MNAO, stated, "At Mazda, we have a longstanding commitment to the protection of our global environment, as almost all of our vehicles sold in the United States earn either Low Emission Vehicle or Ultra Low Emission Vehicle status. The Tribute HEV is the next step in this process." As a "full" hybrid, the Tribute HEV can run on solely electric power up to 25mph, making it highly fuel efficient and one of the least polluting vehicles on the market. It still adheres to key elements of a Mazda driving experience with the power and performance that SUV drivers expect. With California's strict Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle requirements met, the Tribute HEV achieves Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle II standards as well as zero evaporative emission standards.
