Mazda CX-7

The 2007 CX-7 is Mazda's mid-size crossover SUV model, a production version of the MX-Crossport concept car. First unveiled at the 2006 Los Angeles Auto Show, production officially began on February 20 at Mazda's Ujina #2 factory in Hiroshima. It has been introduced to replace the Tribute as the company's small SUV, competing against the likes of Honda CR-V, Hyundai Santa Fe, Dodge Nitro, and Ford Edge. The CX-7 rides on an all-new platform, utilizing the front suspension from Mazda's MPV minivan and the rear suspension from the Mazda5. The Mazda CX-7 is powered by the same 2.3 L straight-4 MZR engine used in the Mazdaspeed 6, delivering a total of 244 hp (182 kW) and 258 ft·lbf (350 N·m) of torque. 99 percent of the maximum torque is available to 5000 rpm. It also features fully independent suspension, four-wheel ventilated disc brakes, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, and a 6-speed automatic transmission. Buyers can opt between Front Wheel Drive and Mazda's Active Torque-Split all wheel drive system, which distributes up to 50 percent of the engine's torque to the rear wheels. With combined driving, the CX-7 is estimated to deliver over 23 mpg (10.2 L/100 km). Available in three models, the Mazda CX-7 includes the Sport (priced from $24,310), Touring (priced from $26,060), and Grand Touring (priced from $28,560). All models are able to be equipped with All-Wheel Drive.
