Mazda MX-5 GT Race Car

Mazda is aiming to prove itself against big-name car manufacturers like Aston Martin, Porsche, Lotus, and BMW with its gargantuan Mazda MX-5 GT entry in the Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship 2011. Weighing merely 850kg, this immensely powerful GT race car can reach 0-60mph in just three seconds and a top speed of 160mph. The car's build adhered to Mazda's gram strategy - with the engineers and technicians from Jota Sport examining every single nut and bolt to diminish component weight while also matching the power to the weight, yielding the lightest and most potent MX-5 ever built. The design of this car was particularly crafted to ensure the Mazda MX-5 could still preserve its core values, which include excellent handling, an elevating driving experience, and the ability to take on bigger and more powerful adversaries - all at a sensible cost. The 400-hour build of the shell was structured to be 17 times stronger than the necessities set by FIA. During the construction, the team was met with several engineering obstacles, such as alteration of the suspension system, integration of the sequential six-speed gearbox, and bolstering of the engine. Cutting-edge weight-management strategies, such as dismembering of the interior components, abridging of component weight, and submerging the shell in acid, dropped 15 kg off the MX-5.
