Mazda Ryuga Concept

Mazda's Design Division General Manager Laurens van den Acker posed a thought provoking question at the Hiroshima, Japan Motor Corporation - how will Mazda's Zoom-Zoom spirit express itself in the future? After months of brainstorming, meetings, and revisions, Mazda answered the question with the Nagare concept at the Los Angeles Auto Show - the Nagare, meaning "flow" in Japanese, presented a captivating design that represents motion in a still car. Van den Acker wanted to explore Nagare more, thus the Ryuga concept was presented at the Detroit Auto Show. Ryuga is a more realistic version of Nagare, allowing for reaction gauging by those that view it. To explain the difference, van den Acker described it as "if Nagare is haute couture, Ryuga is prêt-a-porter".
