Mazda Tribute Hybrid-Electric Vehicle

Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) is demonstrating its commitment to improving global air quality with the unveiling of the 2008 Mazda Tribute Hybrid-Electric Vehicle (HEV) at the North American International Auto Show. Furthermore, Mazda is also testing a hydrogen-powered version of the RX-8 and a hydrogen-powered hybrid model of the MAZDA 5 in Japan. Tribute HEV is slated for mid-2007 release as a 2008 model-year vehicle, with further details being made closer to launch. Robert Davis, senior vice president of Quality, Research and Development at MNAO, noted that almost all of the Mazda vehicles sold in the U.S. qualify as either Low Emission Vehicle (LEV) or Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV), revealing Mazda's longstanding dedication to protecting the environment. Being a "full" hybrid, the Tribute HEV allows for a maximum 25 mph speed utilizing only electric power, improving its efficiency and reducing emission levels. Plus, it complies with California's Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (AT-PZEV) requirement, along with Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle II (SULEVII) standards and zero evaporative emissions standards. The Tribute HEV amalgamates fuel economy with the performance Mazda owners have come to expect from an SUV. Despite its environmentally friendly features, the Tribute HEV still offers the power required to satisfy SUV owners.
