McLaren F1 1993 posters

McLaren F1

The McLaren F1 is renowned for its unique and innovative design, having been created with the intention of being one of the ultimate road cars. Chief engineer Gordon Murray maximised power and agility by employing advanced lightweight and high-tech materials such as carbon fibre, titanium, gold, magnesium and kevlar. Not only was it the first production car to incorporate a carbon fibre monocoque chassis, but the McLaren F1 was also the fastest naturally aspirated production car as of April 2009. Not only was the car's power and design remarkable, but it was also designed by Gordon Murray and McLaren Automotive to be comfortable and usable on a daily basis; even so, the McLaren team achieved immesurable success in racing, winning several races, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995, against purpose-built race cars. On March 31, 1998, production began on the McLaren F1 and, in total, 106 vehicles were created before production ended in 1998, each with variations in design.
