McLaren F1 GTR

The McLaren F1 GTR was custom built for race teams to compete in the BPR Global GT Series. It featured a modified engine management system that increased power output to 600 hp (447 kW) at 7500 RPM, but this was restricted by racing regulations. The car was equipped with various body panel, suspension, aerodynamic and interior modifications. It achieved its biggest success with 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 13th places at the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans, outperforming custom built prototype sports cars. In total nine models were constructed for that year. McLaren F1 GTR '96 The '96 edition of the McLaren F1 GTR was larger and lighter than its predecessor. Nine cars were built specifically for this version, while some of the original 1995 models were raced by privateers. Notably, chassis #14R became the first non-Japanese car to win a race in the All-Japan Grand Touring Car Championship (JGTC), driven by David Brabham and John Nielsen. This model had a weight reduction of around 100kg and an engine that was detuned to 600 HP in accordance with racing regulations. McLaren F1 GTR '97 The 1997 version of the McLaren F1 GTR was developed once it had been homologated. This car was even lighter and featured a sequential transaxle. The engine was also stroked down to 6.0L instead of 6.1L. Because of its modified bodywork, the McLaren F1 GTR '97 is often referred to as the "Longtail" in reference to its extended rear. A total of ten of these cars were built and its weight was reduced to an impressive 910 kg.
