Mercedes-Benz 220SE

The Mercedes-Benz 220SE, nicknamed the "Fintail" (or Heckflosse in German), was a series of luxury vehicles produced between the late 1950s and mid-1960s. The cars were given this name due to their unique rear-end designs that featured small tail fins, thought to be inspired by the flamboyant cars of the United States market—including Cadillacs and Buicks—during the same period. Models The Fintail models came in three basic platforms: the W111, W112 and W110. The W111 was a standard 6-cylinder luxury car introduced in 1959; the W112 was an ultra-luxurious variant with air suspension, released in 1961; and the W110 was a cheaper, shorter 4-cylinder model that debuted in 1962 and was famously called the "Kleinflosse" in German. Many models were built on these basic platforms, composed of different engine combinations and interior trim options that were available.
