From the race-track to the road
Originally, the 300 SL was created as a purpose-built racing coupe (W 194) and wasted no time showing its strength. In 1952, it earned a sweep of the top 3 podium places at the Grand Prix in Bern and one-two finishes at Le Mans and the Nürburgring, all while taking first prize in the Carrera Panamericana in Mexico. This success reignited Mercedes-Benz's legacy as a motorsports force, and gave rise to the 300 SL's release as a road car. Through the initiative of American importer Maximilian E. Hoffman, production started in 1954 with a total of 1,400 models produced before its discontinuation in 1957. Although no longer rolling out of the assembly line, the legacy of the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing certainly follows.Adorn your walls with a classic icon: the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing 1954.
