Mercedes-Benz B-Class F-Cell

Mercedes-Benz is releasing its first mass-produced fuel cell vehicle: the all-new Mercedes-Benz B-Class F-Cell. This eco-friendly electric car offers performance similar to a 2.0-litre petrol engine but with zero emissions. According to the New European Driving Cycle, it consumes the equivalent of just 3.3 litres of diesel fuel per 100 kilometres. Production of the Mercedes-Benz B-Class F-Cell is expected to start at the end of 2009 with a small batch. The first 200 units will be delivered to customers in Europe and the USA in early 2010. The fuel cell car provides all the comfort and safety features expected from a Mercedes-Benz, without compromising boot space and seating capacity. There's no loss of performance either, with its electric motor producing 100 kW/136 hp and 290 Nm maximum torque available from the first rotation. This ensures the Mercedes-Benz B-Class F-Cell offers superior handling to a 2.0-litre petrol car in some cases. Meanwhile, its impressive range of around 400 kilometres and a short refuel time of only three minutes make it ideal for long trips without producing any harmful emissions.
