Mercedes-Benz C220 CDI Avantgarde

The Mercedes-Benz C220 CDI Avantgarde is part of the W203 C-Class series, an automobile produced by Mercedes-Benz between July 2000 and December 2006. Design work on the W203 began in mid-1994 and was approved by the executive board in December 1995, with design patents filed on April 20th 1998 and March 4th 1999. Testing began in 1997 and following its introduction in March 2000, the C-Class was offered with a range of inline-four and V6 petrol engines, as well as inline-four and -five diesels. These featured common rail direct fuel injection and variable geometry turbochargers. Furthermore, the C 320 was exclusive, offering 160 kW (218 PS). Six-speed manual gearboxes were then standard for the entire range, except the C 320. Mercedes-Benz added a coupe variant in October 2000, the C-Class SportCoupé with the model designation CL203, and a station wagon in 2001. From 2003, the C-Class range was updated with the supercharged 1.8-litre four-cylinder M271 engine, providing 142 kW (190 hp). This update also followed in the C 240 and C 320; both of which had four-wheel drive versions, alongside their rear-wheel drive counterparts. The SportCoupé model was discontinued after the 2005 model year in the US and Canada, yet remained on sale in other markets until 2008. Up to that point, 230,000 SportCoupés were constructed in the Bremen factory and in Brazil.
