Two special events in 2007 made it an extra significant year for Mercedes-AMG: they launched the new Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG high-performance coupe, featuring a 450 kW/612 hp V12 engine. This model also marked the 40th anniversary of Mercedes-AMG, done in a "40th Anniversary" limited edition.
The new CL65 AMG, part of the AMG model range, is powered by the 6.0-liter V12 biturbo engine known from the Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG and SL65 AMG twelve-cylinder models. It lives up to expectations with its maximum output of 450 kW/612 hp and maximum torque of 1000 Newton meters, and remarkable performance data: it can reach 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and 200 km/h in 13.3 seconds, with a top speed that is electronically limited to 250 km/h.
Other features of the vehicle include AMG body styling, 20-inch AMG forged wheels, the unique AMG interior, and advanced technology such as AMG sports suspension, based on the Active Body Control system, and the PRE-SAFE® anticipatory occupant protection system. The AMG high-performance brake system features double-frame sliding calipers that provide maximum deceleration without fading: at the permissible gross vehicle weight, the Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG can stop from 100 km/h in 35.6 meters with a maximum deceleration of 11.1 m/s2.
