Mercedes-Benz CLK Coupe

The CLK-Class is a series of mid-size luxury coupés and convertibles manufactured by German automaker Mercedes-Benz in two generations. Based on the smaller W202/W203 C-Class platforms, the CLK-Class was a slightly more sophisticated iteration of the E-Class; positioned below the CL-Class and SL-Class while above the SLK-Class. The first-generation C208/A208 CLK was launched in 1997, powered by either a four-cylinder engine (CLK 200) or a four-cylinder supercharged (CLK 230 Kompressor). Additionally, the CLK320 Coupé was released the same year with a 3.2-litre V6 engine, producing a power output of 218 PS (160 kW; 215 bhp). Alongside the road-version of the CLK-Class, Mercedes-Benz's CLK GTR racing car was revealed in 1998, with a removal 5.9-litre V12 engine. In 1999, the facelifted CLK-Class sported revised instrument clusters, steering wheels, Tiptronic gearbox, bumpers, side skirts and side-view mirror-mounted turn signals. Meanwhile, the CLK320 Cabriolet and the CLK430 with a 4.3-litre V8 engine with a power output of 279 PS (205 kW; 275 bhp) were added to the existing line-up. In Europe, a supercharged version of the CLK 200 (dubbed 200 Kompressor) was available, boasting an impressive 193bhp. In 2009, Mercedes ceased to use the CLK designation and re-classified the CLK-Class models back to the E-Class Coupé/Convertible.
