Mercedes-Benz CLS 350 CGI

The new Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class will bring even more momentum and safety to model year 2007, with three newly developed engines, extensive range of standard equipment, and a host of advanced features. Among them is the six-cylinder CLS 350 CGI, equipped with the world’s first petrol engine featuring piezoelectric direct injection and spray-guided combustion. Boasting 215 kW/ 292 hp and consuming up to 10% less fuel than a comparable V6 petrol engine, this four-door Coupe packs a punch. The CLS 500 will come with a new V8 engine from the S-Class, boasting an output of 285 kW/388 hp, representing a 26% increase from the predecessor. And last but not least, there's the sensation-inducing CLS 63 AMG, with its V8 naturally aspirated engine generating 378 kW/514 hp. Plus, Mercedes-Benz has added the PRE-SAFE® anticipatory protection system and flashing brake lights to the standard safety package. In October 2004 Mercedes-Benz amazed the automotive world with the CLS-Class, a revolutionary vehicle concept that blended the dynamism and features of a Coupé with the comfort and functionality of a saloon. In mid-2006 this series will be even more valuable, with more enhanced equipment and technology. The CLS 350 CGI stands out with its innovative direct petrol injection system with spray-guided combustion; this revolutionary process makes for much better fuel and thermodynamic efficiency compared to wall-guided combustion. In the European driving cycle, the CLS 350 CGI consumes only 9.1-9.3 litres per 100 kilometres, allowing for a range of around 70 kilometers on a single tankful.
