Mini Cooper S
Today, Monday 14 August 2006, the all-new MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S have been revealed, featuring a completely new body design, a modern interior and high-performance engines. The two new models will be available before the end of the year, in hopes of replicating the success of its predecessor, which has sold over 800,000 around the world and 200,000 in the UK alone.
The external design of the new MINI has stayed loyal to the existing model, but with all new body panels for an updated look. Stunning, modern and instantly recognisable styling has been the key to MINI's success and it remains that way with the new model.
The MINI features new four-cylinder 1.6-litre petrol engines, including an intercooled and turbocharged version that produces 175hp. These engines make the new MINI safer and more environmentally conscious, with improved fuel economy of 48.7mpg and 40.9mpg respectively and decreased CO2 emissions, enabling the two models to move two places in the VED car tax ratings.
The interior of the MINI offers more room and comfort for passengers, with improved quality, bright colour schemes, and a wealth of personalisation options. The new MINI One will also be available from the start of 2007, with maximum output of 95hp delivering greater efficiency and performance. The MINI Diesel will follow shortly afterwards with advanced turbodiesel technology.
Prices for the new MINI range are as follows: MINI One £11,595, MINI Cooper £12,995 and MINI Cooper S £15,995. The product triangle made up of Plant Oxford, Plant Swindon and Hams Hall in the UK continues to be the driving force behind the MINI's success.
