The MINI John Cooper Works Convertible is set to make its world debut as the fastest small premium cabriolet at the Geneva International Motor Show on 03 March 2009, and is available for purchase in the UK as of 28 March 2009 at the price of £23,470 OTR. It features the same engineering modifications as the Hatch model bearing the John Cooper Works badge, such as a 1.6-litre twin scroll-turbocharged engine producing 211 hp and up to 280 Nm peak torque with Overboost deployed. This engine is a lighter, more powerful version of the one found in the MINI Cooper S models and the same one fitted on the MINI Challenge race car. It is further equipped with a reinforced transmission that can handle the extra output of 132 hp per litre while still offering impressive fuel economy of 39.8 mpg. The included standard kit of the MINI John Cooper Works Convertible comprises of a bespoke John Cooper Works Alcantara steering wheel, sport seats, John Cooper Works floor mats, glossy piano black interior and air conditioning as standard.
