Mini Versace Cabrio
MINI is a subsidiary of BMW, and has been producing cars since 2001 that are marketed as a "retro" redesigned version of the original Mini that was produced by the British Motor Corporation from 1959 to 2000. MINI is marked in capital letters, which is used to differentiate itself from the 'classic Mini'. The car is manufactured in Cowley, Oxford, United Kingdom, the place where the Morris car plant used to be located.
Models
MINI has seven models available: the MINI One D, MINI One, MINI One Convertible, MINI Cooper, MINI Cooper S, MINI Cooper Convertible and MINI Cooper S Convertible. The Portuguese version of MINI One runs on a 1.4 l Tritec engine, whereas all other gasoline powered MINIs use a 1.6 l engine. Since 2004, all MINI models come with an optional soft-top convertible.
There are style and badge differences between each model, with the most notable being the MINI Cooper S having a distinctive scoop cut into its bonnet to provide airflow over the top mounted intercooler and twin exhausts exiting the center of the rear valance. The Cooper does not have a scoop cut, but has a generous amount of chrome parts compared to the MINI One, and has a single exhaust. Concerning the MINI One/D, it has no visible exhaust pipes.
Depending on the market, only the MINI Cooper and Cooper S are sold due to the MINI One's engine's lack of power to adequately run an air conditioner. However, the engines are the same, with the only difference being the software change used to optimize for fuel economy on the MINI One and for power and economy on the Cooper. In Australia, nearly half of all MINIs sold are the top-of-the-range Cooper S model, and in the US, that figure goes up to seventy percent.
