Mitsubishi Colt 5-door

Sold in both Asia and Europe, the Mitsubishi Colt was conceptualized by Mitsubishi Design Europe, led by Akinori Nakanishi. Nakanishi and his team had already conquered hearts around the world with their sleek and pebble-shaped 1991 Colt / Mirage Mk IV. This time around, they went a step further and designed a European version of the Colt, which was based on the lauded 2001 CZ2 concept car. Furthermore, a full interior makeover was carried out to satisfy European tastes and demands. Identity The Mitsubishi Colt can be easily identified by the Brand's visual identity. This identity was credited to Olivier Boulay, Mitsubishi Motor Corporation's Head of Design. He explained that the signature triangular shape, which can be seen in Mitsubishis since the early 60s, makes way for an eye-catching “reflective diamond effect” between the grilles. To give the vehicle a sportier look, the Brand also decided to extend this shape to the hood - creating a “spine” that adds a touch of motion. This front end is the key difference between the Colt for the European market and the Japanese market, and was inspired by the 2001 CZ2 concept.
