Ralliart, the motorsports arm of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, is renowned worldwide for its vehicles featuring enhanced performance, specialty equipment, and sporty styling elements such as more powerful engines, tuned suspensions, and distinctive fascia and styling elements. The mighty Eclipse, being the best-selling import coupe for the past 15 years, has been completely redesigned for 2006, and of course received the Ralliart treatment.
"To put a vehicle into the Ralliart class, it has to be equipped with improved engine performance, bolder styling, interior features, and a daring paint job," states Dan Sims, general manager of MMNA's design center. "The Eclipse Ralliart concept fits all of these requirements."
To make the Eclipse Ralliart concept a cut above the rest, engineers utilized a turbocharged 4G63 engine to create approximately 400 horsepower. The car is also fitted with an all-wheel drive system, and a six-speed manual transmission. To minimize weight, carbon fiber was used in the hood, roof, fascias, and front fenders. Additionally, a dazzling Hot Red Mica coat of paint was custom-crafted by PPG specifically for this concept. For a real sporty look, the Eclipse Ralliart sits atop 20-inch high-performance carbon fiber wheels with AVS Sport Yokohama tires.
Inside, the vehicle dazzles like the outside, with Recaro performance seats, four-point restraints, racing gauges, and a Rockford Fosgate premium sound system. All in all, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Ralliart concept is truly a marvel of incredible engineering and modern design.
